CANDELARIA, Quezon – Three people died and four others were injured as the tricycle they were riding collided head-on with a passenger bus along Maharlika Highway on Wednesday night.
Candelaria Municipal Police Station identified the fatalities as Wilson Garma, 29, tricycle driver, of Tiaong town; Cristito Calingasan Garma, 60; and Althea Becong Garma, 4.
Wilson died on the spot while the two others were declared dead on arrival at the Peter Paul Medical Center of Candelaria where they were rushed by the rescue team.
Injured victims Ashley Dianne, Becong Garma, 10; Jhon Wine Toledo Garma, 4; Corazon Lubay Garma, 53; and Florylane Toledo Garma were treated at the hospital.
The driver of the LLI passenger bus (NBB 2081), Dario Ang Aliocod, 57, a resident of Sariaya town, is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, multiple serious physical injuries and damage to property.
Police report showed that at around 6 p.m. the victims’ tricycle was traversing the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Bukal Sur in this town when it collided with the said bus.
Due to the strong impact, the victims sustained severe head and body injuries. They were helped by members of the Municipal Risk Reduction Management Office. (Danny Estacio)
