CEBU CITY – A Japanese tourists died while snorkeling in Barangay Tanawan, Oslob town, southern Cebu on Thursday morning.
The Philippine Coast Guard- Central Visayas (PCG 7) identified the fatality as Marinubo Kuriyama, 52.
According to the report that reached the PCG 7, the Japanese suddenly fell ill while snorkeling.
PCG 7 information officer Lt. Jr. Grade Michael John Encina said the snorkeling guide identified as Airi Hemeno of the Seasir Agency noticed that the Japanese was breathing heavily with blood coming out from his nose and mouth.
The Japanese was brought to the shore where he was given first aid treatment. Coast Guard personnel led by SN 1 Joselito Bartolome confirmed that the victim was no longer breathing and had no pulse when he was given cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Encina said the incident will be investigated further. (Calvin D. Cordova)
