Scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail as different weather systems continue to affect the country this weekend.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said the tail-end of a cold front, the intertropical convergence zone, the northeast monsoon, and localized thunderstorms will affect different parts of the country today.
PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over the Davao region, Socsargen, Maguindanao, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi due to the ITCZ.
PAGASA warned residents affected by the ITCZ on possible flash floods or landslides in high risk areas during heavy rains.
Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Quezon, Marinduque, and Oriental Mindoro will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms caused by the tail-end of a cold front.
Flash floods or landslides are also possible in high risk areas during severe thunderstorms, PAGASA said.
The northeast monsoon or “amihan” affects Luzon, particularly Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora, bringing cloudy skies with scattered light rains.
The northeast monsoon will also bring partly cloudy skies to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. (Alexandria San Juan)
