A robbery suspect was killed in an encounter with policemen shortly after he held up a bank teller in Quezon City early Tuesday.
Investigators of the Quezon City Police District’s Batasan Police Station (PS-6) said they have yet to identify the slain suspect described as about 5’1″ in height, slim built, and fair-complexioned.
Police said the suspect bore “RAD somo,” “Victor, Ely Roy,” and “Sputnik” tattoos on different parts of the body.
According to probers, the suspect was involved in a robbery hold-up incident at Phase 2 Lupang Pangako in Barangay Payatas B.
Initial investigation showed that the suspect was onboard a motorcycle with his companion when they robbed a 21-year-old bank teller at around 12:45 a.m.
Members of PS-6 patrolling the area saw the incident and immediately responded.
However, the suspects suddenly fired at the chasing police officers, resulting in a brief shootout.
The cops hit the back rider while the driver managed to escape.
The wounded suspect was rushed by the police to East Avenue Medical Center, but he was declared dead on arrival.
Recovered from the crime scene were the items stolen from the victim, including debit cards and cash amounting to P4,697, as well as the suspect’s .38-caliber revolver without serial number, and pieces of spent shells.
Follow-up investigation is now ongoing to locate and arrest the suspect’s companion. (Alexandria San Juan)
