Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. yesterday confronted a group of protesters converging outside the Department of Foreign Affairs office in Pasay City and even challenged one of its members to punch him.
In a video that circulated online, Locsin can be heard talking loudly to placard-bearing protesters regarding the repatriation plan being laid down by the government for overseas Filipino workers who wish to come home in view of the brewing tension in the Middle East.
Some of the protesters are said to be relatives and family members of OFWs in the Middle East.
“(Through) the taxes that you pay, the Filipino people pay, we will bring our people back because this is where they belong. Kung gusto nila, okay?” Locsin can be heard as saying.
It was also reported that Locsin had a heated exchange with one of the protesters when the protester allegedly refused to let the DFA Secretary grab the microphone they are using in the rally. (Roy Mabasa)
