Medical teams from the Philippines Coast Guard (PCG) Station in Southern Tagalog were deployed to provide much-needed assistance to affected families who are taking shelter in various evacuation centers in the region amid the Taal Volcano eruption.
“PCG District in Southern Tagalog has deployed medical teams to provide assistance to evacuees who are experiencing difficulties in breathing and other health-related issues caused by inhaled ashfall,” the Coast Guard said.
“N95 masks are currently being distributed to the evacuees, especially to children, senior citizens, and pregnant mothers,” it added.
Response team from the PCG Station in Talisay had also successfully transported residents of several barangays in San Nicolas, Talisay, Nasugbu, and Lemery in Batangas going to evacuation centers.
Meanwhile, police forces in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) have been mobilized to assist in the evacuation and relief assistance to affected residents.
Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao, director of the CALABARZON regional police, said he had already instructed all provincial police commanders, to coordinate with local officials on the manpower and resources assistance that the police could provide. (Betheena Unite, Aaron Recuenco)
