CEBU CITY – Authorities arrested six persons and seized P7 million worth of illegal drugs in an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Tayud, Consolacion town, northern Cebu, Monday night.
Among those arrested were live-in partners Jo-ann Calinpon Sanchez, 42, and RJ Jazon Paulin Jerosalem, 28.
Also arrested in the operation conducted around 11 p.m. on Monday were Jonaly Dinoy Bemtazal, 27; Jennifer Narido Flores, 21; Baby Ybanez Beldosola, 25; and Helen Pacala Cuevas, 52.
Police Maj. Vernino Noserale, chief of the Consolacion Police Station, said they recovered one kilo of suspected shabu from the shanty where the suspects were caught.
“The arrest was a result of a very long surveillance. These suspects are called ‘bodigeros.’ They don’t own the illegal drugs. They just pick it up in a certain place and someone instructs them where to deliver or who to sell the illegal drugs,” said Noserale.
Noserale said the group could be a part of a big-time drug syndicate operating in Cebu.
“They sell in bulk, you cannot buy them in grams,” said Noserale.
Police said they had a hard time tracking down the suspects since they moved from one place to another.
Police said follow-up investigation will be conducted to identify the cohorts of the group. (Calvin D. Cordova)
