COTABATO CITY – Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Wednesday a leader of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and his wife who yielded some half kilo of shabu worth P3.5 million during a drug bust in a downtown area in the city.
Jocelyn Mary, spokesperson of PDEA-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, identified the arrested suspects as Juharie Adam Talib and wife Rakma Talib. They were nabbed by PDEA operatives during an entrapment operation near the city plaza in Barangay Poblacion here.
She said the suspects had been placed under tight surveillance for several months prior to their arrest.
The suspects’ two minor children were inside their vehicle during their arrest.
The arresting team recovered from Juharie Talib an identification card bearing his name as company commander of the 105th MILF Bse Commander.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted that he is a member of the MILF.
The MILF leadership said it is still verifying if Talib is a bonafide MILF member. (Joseph Jubelag)
