The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is deporting three fugitives from the United States and China in the wake of their recent arrest.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the three aliens, a Chinese and two Americans, were arrested in separate operations by agents of the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU).
They will all be deported for being undesirable aliens as their passports were already cancelled by their government,” Morente said.
He added that the fugitives fled to the Philippines to evade prosecution for their crimes.
According to BI FSU chief Bobby Raquepo, the agents arrested in Parañaque City last Jan. 16 Chinese national Cai Cancan, 19, who is wanted in his country for economic crimes.
Authorities in Xiamen, China alleged that Cai is one of several suspects wanted for operating a credit card scheme that defrauded their victims of some US$300,000.
In Cagayan de Oro City, FSU agents arrested also on Jan. 16 American national Xerxes Pancipanci, 34, who is wanted for a vehicular homicide case.
Pancipanci, according to US authorities, is subject of a warrant issued by a superior court in King County, Washington.
A check of the BI’s travel records showed that both arrived in the country last year and did not leave ever since.
Last Jan. 21, FSU agents arrested in Sagay, Negros Oriental another American Richard Bruce Weiser, 72, an alleged pedophile.
The US embassy said Weiser is subject of an arrest warrant issued by a district court in Harris County, Texas where he was charged with sexually molesting a child under 14 years of age. (Jun Ramirez)
