Adamson University has ordered self-quarantine among all students, staff, and stakeholders who have travelled to and from countries with confirmed cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus.
The Office of the President of Adamson had earlier issued a memorandum regarding its preventive measure against the novel coronavirus.
The order encouraged all its Chinese students, both in graduate and undergraduate studies, to observe a two-week self quarantine.
However, a backlash ensued over the apparent discrimation that the order caused.
Adamson later issued an amended memorandum for the misimpression it may have created.
In this memorandum, the university completed the list of those who are covered by the self-quarantine and included all students, staff, and stakeholders who have travelled to and from countries with confirmed cases of the coronavirus, including China and or Hong Kong, within the last month or who may have in close contact or direct exposure to a potential source.
Adamson said that Chinese students and guests not included in the above conditions are no longer covered by self-quarantine advisory. They are also allowed to go to school.
“We apologize for misimpression it may have created,” the university said.
“Please be assured that Adamson University is working its best to ensure at all times the health and safety of all its stakeholders, both in school and in off-campus activities,” it added. (Joseph Pedrajas)
