DAVAO CITY – The Department of Trade Industry (DTI) 11 is urging the public to file complaints against people who are selling overpriced face masks online.
DTI 11 assistant regional director Edwin Banquerigo said anyone who are taking advantage of the situation due to 2019 novel coronavirus (2019 nCoV) should be penalized whether the profiteering is done online or in the physical market.
“This is really the time that we should work together, this is really the time that we should help each other,” he said.
There are complaints in the social media about the overpriced surgical mask as some people are selling it to P250 per box containing 50 pieces compared to the original price of P75 a box in major pharmacies.
Based on Department of Health Memorandum No. 2020 – 0005 issued on January 14, 2020, the suggested retail price of disposable face mask is P1.10 up to P8. (Armando Fenequito, Jr.)
