The Bureau of Internal Revenue BIR) filed yesterday tax evasion charges against seven business enterprises based in Metro Manila and adjacent towns for alleged refusal to settle tax debts totaling to more than P825 million.
Quezon City Revenue Region 7-B Director Romulo Aguila Jr. said the criminal complaints were submitted to the Department of Justice for review and filing before appropriate courts after the owners and key officers of the said businesses ignored string of assessment and collection notices sent to them.
They were identified as Body Needs and Basic Corporation of Oranbo, Pasig City; Firotech Fire Protection of Domingo St., San Juan; Christimar Corporation of San Roque, Antipolo City; Fourthwave Global of Malanday, Marikina City; Asiatech Construction and Industrial Corporation of San Miguel, Pasig; Mardi Foods/Best Link Trading of Taytay, Rizal; and Dimicor Trading and General Merchandising of Morong, Rizal.
The highest deficiency income and value-added taxes was slapped against operators of Maerdi Foods amounting to more than P698 million followed by Body Needs and Dimicor Trading with indebtedness of P40 million and P34 million, respectively.
The latest cases brought to 626 the number of criminal complaints filed by BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay since he assumed the post in 2018 under the Run-After-Tax-Evaders (RATE) program. (Jun Ramirez)
