The trough of a low-pressure area inside the country and the tail-end of a cold front will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over parts of Visayas and Mindanao this weekend.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said the LPA was last spotted 285 kilometers east southeast of Davao City yesterday morning.
PAGASA said that the LPA is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression.
However, the trough or extension of the LPA, as well as the tail-end of a cold front, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Caraga, Davao region, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza warned residents in these areas that possible flash floods or landslides may occur due to scattered moderate to at times heavy rains.
The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy skies to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by localized thunderstorms.
The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Bicol region, Aurora, and Quezon.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies due to the amihan.
Meanwhile, temperatures continue to drop in some parts of the country from the northeast monsoon.
The lowest temperature so far this year was recorded in La Trinidad, Benguet at 6.3 degrees Celsius last Feb. 3. In Metro Manila, the lowest temperature recorded so far in 2020 was on Feb. 4 at 18.5 degrees Celsius. (Alexandria San Juan)
