BACOLOD City – A couple with suspected links to the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested last Friday in Barangay Talalak, Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental.
According to a report from Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), the suspects were identified as Luis Ragay, 53, and wife Lenie Ragay, 49, who were wanted for rebellion.
Armed with an arrest warrant issued by Judge Marie Rose G. Inocando-Paras in Bayawan City, police and the military served the arrest warrant against the couple.
The court set a bail of P200,000 for their provisional liberty.
The couple, according to the military, is allegedly considered the “eyes and ears” of the NPA in the area.
Their son was a former member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) who was dismissed in 2018, the military said.
Both suspects are now in the custody of Sta. Catalina Municipal Police Station. (Glazyl Masculino)
