The Department of Health (DoH) said that it is still too early to say that the number of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases are now starting to stabilize.
“It’s premature. We’ve seen some initial trending but it’s not consistent. We have to wait for more data to come in and to establish a trend that is more consistent– whether its plateauing or going down. Still, the situation remains fluid,” said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently said that Covid-19 cases in China appear to be stabilizing. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the number of cases “must be interpreted with extreme caution as this “could still go in any direction.”
Meanwhile, Duque said that the DoH is open at adopting a new method that would help in determining Covid- 19 cases through chest imaging, which is now being used in China.
“We will look into that development from the China medical care system that raised this. It’s very interesting but I do not have the details of such but the concept seems to be very good,” he said. (Analou de Vera)
