Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV is a discredited and disgraced lawmaker dishing out nonsense, Malacañang said yesterday, following the filing of sedition raps against him.
Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo brushed aside the reputation of Trillanes and refused to further comment on nonsense. He maintained that they would rather let the law take its course in the case of Trillanes.
“We cannot be wasting time responding to nonsense coming from a discredited, disgraced senator. Hayaan mo na siya,” he said. “Ang posisyon ni Presidente pag may kaso, hayaan mo na ‘yung korte,” he added.
A Quezon City Regional Trial Court recently ordered the arrest of Trillanes and several others charged with conspiracy to commit sedition.
Trillanes, who is currently abroad, reportedly said he intends to post bail when he returns home this week.
The complaint against Trillanes and others was filed by Department of Justice in connection with the controversial videos linking Duterte and his family to the illegal drugs trade. They allegedly tried to create hatred and revenge against Duterte “with the end in view of toppling and destabilizing the current administration,” the DoJ said in a statement. (Genalyn Kabiling)
