CAMP BANCASI, Butuan City – A New People’s Army (NPA) commander was killed while the insurgents’ hideouts were captured in simultaneous military operations in the vicinity of Barangay Dumalaguig, Impasugong and Mount Kalatungan in Bukidnon last week.
Maj. Regie H. Go, chief of Public Affairs Office (PAO) of the 4th Infantry Division, said scores of rebels were believed wounded as pursuing troops found bloodstains along their escape route.
“Yes, our operating troops are still pursuing the fleeing rebels in that mountain province of Bukidnon,” Go said in an interview.
The simultaneous military operations started on Tuesday, Feb. 18, in Dumalaguig area and Mount Kalatungan, he said.
The operations resulted in the seizure of two NPA hideouts, war materials, and personal belongings.
Some civilians disclosed that they saw a number of fleeing NPA rebels passing through, carrying their dead and wounded comrades.
Killed during the encounter was identified as “Commander Sidlak”, commander of the Sentro de-Grabedad (SDG) of Guerilla Front 68, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC), he said. (Mike Crismundo)
