Top seed Davao Occidental and second seed Bacoor tackle dangerous rivals Zamboanga and Basilan, respectively, at the start of the Chooks-to-Go MPBL Lakan Season South Division semifinals at RMC Arena in Davao City today.
Due to homecourt advantage, the Davao Occidental Tigers are heavily favored over Zamboanga Family’s Brand Sardines in their 8:30 p.m. encounter.
With their floor leader Mark Yee a doubtful starter, however, the Tigers would be hard-pressed against the fifth-seeded Zamboanguenos, who bested the Batangas City Athletics, 2-1, in their quarterfinal round series.
Hobbled by a partial ACL tear on right knee, Yee played sparingly against Bicol but still delivered vital points and rebounds in overtime to lift the Tigers past the Volcanoes in their quarterfinal series decider, 64-56, last Friday.
Whether Yee suits up or not, the Zamboanguenos, owing to their deep roster led by Davao-honed Alvin Pasaol, will be ready to counter.
