Two alleged drug pushers were killed while P1.3-million worth of suspected shabu were seized in a buy-bust operation yesterday in Quezon City.
Police Brig. Gen. Ronnie Montejo, Quezon City Police District director, identified the fatalities as Allan Louis Canlas, 29, and Asnawi Batuas, 42, residents of Quezon City.
QCPD Station 4 (Novaliches) commander Police Lt. Col. Hector Amancia said they received information about the suspects’ alleged drug peddling activities, prompting them to mount an operation.
A police poseur-buyer managed to make a transaction with the suspects and setup the purchase at the corner of Herrera Drive and Quirino Highway in Barangay Bagbag.
However, the suspects sensed they were dealing with a cop and drew their firearms. They opened fire at the policeman which forced his colleagues to retaliate, killing the suspects on the spot.
The suspects were taken to a hospital where they were declared dead.
Recovered at the crime scene were two loaded firearms, boodle money worth P56,000, and about 50 grams of suspected shabu.
Amancia said the operation was an off-shoot of an earlier operation in which P2.3-million worth of suspected shabu were seized. (Joseph Pedrajas)
