Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano yesterday confirmed that an employee of consultancy and financial advisory firm Deloitte Philippines based at the Net Lima Plaza at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig is one of the two new novel coronavirus disease 2019 cases announced by the Department of Health last Friday.
Cayetano said that the employee is in stable condition after he was admitted to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa City last March 5.
The employee initially sought medical consultation on March 4 and was put under the surveillance of the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit
Cayetano said they are still monitoring the status of the employee while the CEDSU as well as city officials are in close coordination with the concerned property managers.
“Contact tracing and proper management are ongoing,” he said.
The CEDSU has been conducting preventive measure and has put necessary protocols in place, he said.
“Since January of this year, we have reached out to the BGC community and all barangays in the city and have informed them of our reporting and monitoring procedures, the availability of two dedicated ambulance teams, a vigilant service hotline, and the strict implementation of the executive order to guide the public on guidelines for holding mass gatherings within the city,” Cayetano said.
Residents were reminded to stay calm amid false news being spread about the disease and are advised to source their information from reliable channels.
They were also reminded to practice constant and proper hand washing with soap and water, hand sanitizing with alcohol, covering when sneezing and coughing, and practicing healthy lifestyle habits to boost the immune system. (Dhel Nazario)
