The sanitation of the Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan City has been completed, its management said yesterday, as it continues to implement precautionary measures against the novel coronavirus disease 2019.
“A thorough sanitation of the entire mall was completed in compliance with the protocols and procedures of the Department of Health,” management said in a statement posted on its Facebook page. “Also, the prayer room was sanitized under the direct supervision of the DoH,” they added.
The management said precautionary measures in compliance with the guidelines of the Health department have been in place following the confirmation of the first local case of COVID-19 involving a 62-year-old man who regularly visited a prayer hall located in Barangay Greenhills, San Juan City.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora had ordered the management of the shopping center to sanitize and disinfect the mall and its surroundings.
“They have agreed to do this as they share our concern for the safety and well-being, not just of their shoppers, tenants, and employees, but also of the general public,” Zamora said.
The mall management said it continues to implement safety protocols and installed hand sanitizers in mall entrances and soaps in washrooms.
Signages on health advisories such as proper hand washing were also in place, it added.
“The management continues to coordinate with the DoH and the city government of San Juan and closely monitors the COVID-19 situation in order to take action as necessary.”
POSTPONED
Zamora has postponed planned public activities of the city government this weekend and next week following the first local case of COVID-19.
He has convened the Coronavirus Task Force and ordered all concerned agencies under the city government to practice vigilance against the spread of the virus.
“As a further step to avoid the spread of the virus, the city government is postponing planned public activities this weekend and in the coming week,” Zamora said.
The Health department and the city government have started contact tracing to determine those who came in contact with the patient.
“Our City Health Office and the San Juan Medical Center are prepared for any eventualities,” Zamora said. “We are taking all necessary precautions in coordination with the DoH.” (Jhon Casinas)
