Dear Manay Gina,
I am so in love with my boyfriend. However, he has a problem with his temper. Each time, he’s feeling depressed or upset about something, he takes it out on me. He actually hurt me physically on several occasions. Other than that, he is very lovable. Do you think he will ever stop? What should I do to save our relationship?
Bel
Dear Bel,
I’m sorry to burst your bubble about this love affair, but I think you should think of saving yourself first. It is extremely dangerous to place yourself at the whim of another person’s mood.
When you allow someone to constantly hit and degrade you, this will have an adverse negative impact on your self-worth and value. Then, there will come a time when you will feel that a man who does not hit you, does not love you. You are better than that.
So, do yourself a favor. As early as now, leave and get some help for yourself and suggest that he gets some help also. His issues of anger have very little to do with you. Only God and himself can fix his problem.
Always remember that real love does not hurt. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Real love is anything but pain!
With affection,
Manay Gina
