CEBU CITY – An 18-year-old man was stabbed dead when he fought off two robbers in Barangay Pardo here on Tuesday night.
The attack happened while victim James Daniel Espinosa and his girlfriend were dating past 7 p.m.
The man succumbed to a stab wound in the chest, said Police Maj. John Kareen Escober, chief of the Pardo Police Station.
There were no other persons in the area when the robbers struck, police said.
The poorly lit hilly area where the crime happened is known to be a dating site because of its location that gives a good glimpse of the city’s skyline.
The victim’s girlfriend told police that two men approached them and declared a holdup.
The woman was able to run while the man fought off the robbers, said Escober.
The victim was found slumped bloodied on the ground when responding police arrived.
It was not immediately known how much money was taken from the victim.
Follow-up operations are in progress to arrest the perpetrators, police said.
“We already have two persons of interest. They are known as toughies in the barangay,” said Escober.
Escober said they will coordinate with barangay officials to plan the security measures that will be implemented in the area. (Calvin Cordova)
