DAVAO CITY — Mayor Sara Z. Duterte ordered last night the temporary closures of the Roxas Night Market and all play parks due to the novel coronavirus disease-2019 in the country.
The mayor made her announcement over 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio FM.
Duterte said the order for the temporary suspension of the night market and closure of parks is effective immediately.
The mayor said she opted to implement the closures as part of the precautionary measures of the city against the virus.
“Our Roxas Night Market will be temporarily suspended and find other ways for the vendors who will be affected by the temporary closure,” she said.
Duterte said the play parks need to be closed for the meantime since she does not want the children to stay outside and play.
“Dili na puwede ang mga bata magdula sa atong mga playgrounds, tanang bata dapat naa sa sulod sa ilang panimalay (I will not allow children to play in our playgrounds and all of them should stay in their respective homes),” she said.
The mayor reminded public to review all the guidelines released by the city government to be updated with latest information on the prevention of COVID-19. (Jun Fenequito)
