The Philippine National Police (PNP) has set up more or less 800 quarantine areas in mainland Luzon for commuters and motorists who would show symptoms of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) during the conduct of checkpoints.
PNP spokesman Gen. Archie Gamboa said they have already identified what he calls community quarantine stations even before the community quarantine measures were expanded from Metro Manila to the entire Luzon.
“These are manned by 4,374 policemen so far and supported by forces from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), said Gamboa.
The community quarantine stations, he said, are located in Northern Luzon, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) and Bicol Region.
The establishment of community quarantine stations is in support of the deployment of police quick response teams (QRTs) which were assigned to all checkpoint areas.
The police QRTs’ tasked is to isolate those who would show signs of COVID-19 infection like high body temperature and flu-like symptoms. The members are the most equipped in terms of protective gears.
Gamboa said they will continue to adjust and improve the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine by the police in the coming days, noting that the adjustments would depend on any new measures that the Inter-Agency Task Force would come suggest. (Aaron Recuenco)
