Quarantine passes will no longer be required in Pasig City, Mayor Vico Sotto said yesterday, noting that the passes were “useless” because people will still have to be asked of their purpose for leaving their homes amid the enhanced community quarantine.
“We do not need quarantine passes within Pasig jurisdiction,” Sotto said. “Malinaw naman ang exemptions sa strict home quarantine.”
“Isa pa, useless ang one per household quarantine pass na valid para sa buong quarantine period, dahil tatanungin pa rin naman ng pulis o barangay kung ano ang purpose nila sa paglabas ng bahay ,” he explained.
Sotto made the announcement in a social media post after clarifying the matter with the National Capital Region Police Office and the Joint Task Force Corona Virus Shield .
Sotto had earlier told Pasigueños to secure a quarantine pass from their barangays, as required by the police, that will allow them to go out to buy food and supplies. The post has since been updated following the announcement.
The mayor said they are in the process of disseminating the information to barangay officials who have already issued quarantine passes to their residents. (Jhon Casinas)
