Mandaluyong City Vice Mayor Anthony Suva said he and his family went on a “strict self-quarantine” after they were exposed to a person suspected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) who died on Saturday morning.
“Nais ko pong ipaalam sa inyo mga mahal kong kababayan na ang inyong lingkod at ang aking buong pamilya ay kasalukuyang naka ‘strict self-quarantine’ dahil na-expose po kami sa isang possible COVID-19 patient,” Suva said in a Facebook post over the weekend. The vice mayor said the patient died on Saturday morning.
It was not immediately if the patient has taken a test for the disease.
“Huwag po kayong mag-alala dahil nasa mabuting kalagayan po ako at ang aking buong pamilya,” Suva said in his post.
As of 5 p.m. Saturday, Mandaluyong City has 13 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 33 persons under investigation (PUIs), and 350 persons under monitoring (PUMs) for the disease.
The local government unit has also placed certain areas of barangay Highway Hills and Mauway under heightened community quarantine due to the disease.
Suva has urged his constituents to stay home and follow the guidelines of set by the government to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“Nananawagan po ako sa inyong lahat na huwag po nating ipag-walang bahala ang virus na ito. Sumunod po tayo sa mga tuntunin ng enhanced community quarantine,” he said.
“Manatili po tayo sa ating mga tahanan para sa kaligtasan nating lahat,” he added. (Jhon Casinas)
