CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The chief of police of Buenavista, Agusan del Norte was arrested by his fellow cops for alleged robbery-extortion late Tuesday afternoon.
Philippine National Police Regional Office 13 director Police Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. identified the suspect as Police Capt. Junil A. Gultiano, 44, chief of police of the Buenavista municipal police station.
The entrapment was carried out by the operatives of the PNP Integrity Monitoring Enforcement Group Mindanao Field Unit together with the Agusan del Norte Provincial Intelligence Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit 13, and PNP Special Action Force.
“The operation stemmed from the alleged complaints of local businessmen that he was extorting money every week from each member of Buenavista Furniture Association,” Esquivel said.
The suspect is also allegedly demanding money for every lumber sold by a businessman, the region’s top police officer claimed.
“During the entrapment, he received the P1,000 marked money,” he said.
