THESE days, all talk leads to improving our immune system in the light of the coronavirus or COVID-19. There are many ways to increase our immune system, the human body’s natural ability to ward off disease or any kind of infection.
I am reminded of a friend who drinks a lot, daily in fact, but who has remained healthy to the surprise of his wife and friends. Bob tells me he drinks a tablespoon of virgin coconut oil (VCO) every day.
Unlike his wife, he has no problems with cholesterol levels, blood sugar rising, etc.
VCO is saturated fat, but unlike animal fat, which is made up of long fatty acids, it is made of medium chain fatty acids or MCFAs.
VCO has large amounts of lauric acid, which is similar to the lauric acid found in mothers’ milk. It is the same nutrient that protects babies while their immune system is developing.
TRIVIA PA MORE (Various Sources): In the Philippine countryside, farmers who manage to crack open a coconut in equal two parts, cleanly and without rough edges, are believed to enjoy good luck.
Ripe cranberries can bounce like a rubber ball.
Every time you lick a stamp, you consume 1/10 of a calorie.
Pearls melt in vinegar.
The ‘57’ on the Heinz ketchup bottle represents the number of pickle types the company once had.
