As the coronavirus takes control of people’s lives around the world, boxing legend and Sen. Manny Pacquiao reminded everyone on Monday about the essence of life.
“Walang value yung pera ngayon noh? Kahit ang dami mong pera, wala kang mabili, kasi lahat sarado. Kahit anong ganda ng kotse mo ngayon, wala kang mapuntahan. Kahit LV o Gucci pa suot mo, nasa bahay ka lang din naman,” wrote Pacquiao.
“In this time of crisis, you’ll appreciate more all your memories and quality time with your families and friends. Yun lang yung meron tayong lahat ngayon. Yung dating masasayang alaala na nagawa mo habang wala pang lock down,” said Pacquiao, who is leading the fight to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Since the government enforced a lockdown in the whole of Luzon, Pacquiao has been lending a hand to those in need.
He leased five buses that will ferry frontliners around the metro and made good on his promise to provide medical supplies such as testing kits from overseas.
And unlike his fellow co-workers in government, Pacquiao opted not to subject himself to testing kits from the government as he is not even showing any symptoms.
Instead, Pacquiao got himself testing kits from friends in Korea that yielded negative results.
In the coming days, Pacquiao will still be extending his hand as he expects more help coming from abroad.
“Kaya pagtapos ng lock down na ito, we should learn to humble ourselves na it is not the material things that we should crave for. It is about our relationship with God and the memories and the legacy that we will leave to our children,” he added.
Cases of COVID-19 worldwide is nearing the million mark with almost 35,000 deaths from 200 countries.
In the Philippines, the count is over 1,500 with 78 deaths.
