ON my way to work recently, I chanced upon a couple of tiny kittens, prowling about aimlessly.
I ride a bike to work, you see, so I managed to stop and look at them for a moment. The litter kept crying in that familiar meow sound.
It seemed to me they were looking for their mother, who might have abandoned them.
I couldn’t do much as I had a newscast to catch.
I managed to deliver them to safety, however. I moved them from the road to higher ground where there were bushes that I thought could protect them from heat.
I hoped to come back for them after our newscast.
Cats’ senses, unlike ours, are very sharp. They can hear frequencies four to five times higher than humans. Cats’ range of hearing goes up to ultrasonic level, which are even inaudible to us. Though their sense of sight only enables them to see two colors – shades of blue and yellow – their eyesight is very sharp in the center of their field of vision.
Anyway, I did come back for the two kittens after “TV Patrol.” I was hoping to adopt them, but I could no longer find them on that street and the nearby areas.
I hope and pray they are well, and have not been hit by some speeding car or the dreaded COVID-19 virus.
