Asymptomatic drivers and crew of cargo delivery trucks should not be required to undergo a 14-day home quarantine, according to the government task force overseeing efforts against the coronavirus outbreak.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has issued the reminder to local government units and local health units not to impose such requirement that may only hamper the flow of movement of cargoes during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
“Pursuant to the policy of allowing the unhampered movement of all cargoes, LGUs and local health units (LHUs) are hereby enjoined not to issue orders that run counter to said directive, such as, but not limited to, requiring asymptomatic drivers and crews of cargo or service delivery vehicles to undergo mandatory fourteen (14)-day home quarantine,” Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said during a virtual press conference Thursday.
Nogales reminded anew local government units to ensure unimpeded movement of all types of cargoes to ensure steady supply of food and other essential items.
He said cargo vehicles with or without load “with not more than three personnel board” are exempted from the enhanced community quarantine enforced by the national government.
These cargo vehicles however must observe social distancing measures such as putting up of additional safe and humane seats or space in the vehicles, according to Nograles. (Genalyn Kabiling)
