A 38-year-old barangay volunteer was gunned down by four men onboard two motorcycles last Wednesday in Quezon City.
Police Lt. Col. Romulus Gadaoni, Quezon City Police District Station 6 (Batasan) commander, identified the victim as Ronald Cumayas, who was allegedly under the drug watchlist.
The QCPD-CIDU said that the incident happened on Eagle St., Sitio Veterans, Barangay Bagong Silangan at around 10:30 p.m.
Investigation showed that Cumayas was manning “temporary barangay road closure” amid the curfew hours imposed over the enhanced community quarantine when he and a fellow volunteer, identified as 20-year-old Aldredo Batino, suddenly saw four masked men onboard two motorcycles approaching them.
Cumayas and Batino tried to escape but the victim was gunned down by by the assailants. Batino was injured by a stray bullet in the right arm.
