BACOLOD CITY – The entire province of Negros Oriental will be placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) starting April 3, 2020 up to April 18, 2020 at the height of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
This was stated in Executive Order No. 2020-26 issued and signed by Governor Roel Degamo on March 31, following the death of two confirmed COVID-19 positive patients in the province last month.
Degamo cited in the order the alarming morbidity and death of the said two positive patients, and the increasing number of persons with influenza-like illness, moderate acute respiratory illness, and severe acute respiratory illness related to COVID-19 in the province.
Based on the order, there will be mandatory stay-at-home order to all the persons of the province. The movement outside their home shall be allowed only for the purposes of accessing basic necessities and other needs.
Only one member of the household who is able and below 65 years old with a quarantine pass is allowed to go out.
Government offices providing basic services shall continue to operate provided they adopt alternative work arrangements.
As of March 31, province has accounted a total of 6,390 persons who are asymptomatic and under monitoring and quarantine. About 4,911 of the total figure have completed their quarantine. (Glazyl Masculino)
