Balanga, Bataan Bishop Ruperto Santos is in favor of extending the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period until the end of this month amid the rising number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) cases in the country.
But the prelate said the government must also be ready to provide immediate help and assistance to the people affected by the crisis.
“For common good and well being, it is better to extend it till end of April,” Santos said in a statement.
He said to continue the ECQ would be more “helpful and beneficial” to all especially right now.
“The trend is rising and only now we have mass testing so to contain the spread of the virus and as precautionary prevention for contamination,” said Santos.
“But financial help and assistance should immediately be available,” he added.
Bishop Santos also called on everyone to cooperate with the government.
He said now is the time for people to be united and work together to get rid of the Covid19 for the safety, and healing of all.
“We should cooperate, not to contradict; to collaborate, not to make offensive commentaries.” said Santos.
