BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjie Magalong has ordered the lockdown of four barangays in the city after one resident of Dagsian was found positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) yesterday.
“I am ordering a lockdown of Upper and Lower Dagsian, Hillside and Scout Barrio in view of this new infection. Only essential travels will be allowed,” Magalong said.
He also directed concerned barangay officials of Upper Dagsian to undergo quarantine.
The patient, a 46-year old female street sweeper of Scout Barrio who lives in Dagsian, is the city’s 15th positive case. Her diagnosis ended the city’s 13-day hiatus from new cases.
Aggressive contact tracing is now being done to round up the patient’s contacts, including some police personnel who, according to Baguio City Police Director Allen Co, are now on isolation.
He also ordered the immediate disinfection of the patient’s residence, police station, and other areas she visited.
The patient first experienced symptoms on April 3 and had her checkup on April 7.
As of today, a total of 154 suspected cases had undergone rapid tests. Five of them had positive results but of these five, four had negative results.
With the new case, the city now has a total of 15 confirmed patients with nine recoveries and one fatality. (Zaldy Comanda)
