The number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has reached 4,648 while the death toll is now close to 300, the Department of Health reported Sunday.
The DoH said that 220 more cases have been detected as of 4 p.m. yesterday.
The dreaded disease also claimed 50 more lives, raising the death toll to 297.
On the other hand, 40 more patients have recovered, bringing the total of recoveries to 197, the Health department said.
The DoH has said that it will issue guidelines on the proper utilization of personal protective equipment for healthcare workers and the public.
“Inaasahan natin sa ganitong paraan mas magiging strategic ang paggamit natin ng PPEs habang sinisiguro natin ang kaligtasan ng ating mga healthcare workers lalo at limited din ang supply sa ngayon,” said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.
Duque said that the guidelines will cover the use of PPEs in hospitals and clinics, triage areas, in contact tracing, in checkpoints, and the handling of suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases.
The Health chief said that the guidelines are based on the recommendation of the World Health Organization and other local medical organizations.
