The Department of Health yesterday said that 52 more patients have recovered from COVID-19.
The DoH said that a total of 487 patients have recovered but the death toll increased to 387 after 25 more patients died.
The Health department recorded 218 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total in the country to 5,878.
In a press briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reported that 766 healthcare workers have been afflicted with the dreaded disease.
She said 339 are doctors while 242 are nurses.
“Sa kasawiang palad, 22 na ang bilang ng healthcare workers na pumanaw mula sa COVID,” she said.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III has expressed gratitude to Filipino healthcare workers for their service.
“We pray to God that He gives us the strength and understanding amid the difficulties we are facing,” said Duque in a statement.
“Let us do this for our loved ones and our countrymen, who are relying on us. Let us not surrender in this battle. We can win this,” he added.
