BAGUIO CITY – Another barangay was sealed off by Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Thursday due to the residents’ continuous violation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) rules.
Magalong observed that village officials of Barangay Fairview had no control over residents.
“May mga nagba-basketball, naglalakad na walang masks, kaya ‘pag may pasaway na barangay i-lockdown ko agad” he said.
He ordered the Baguio City Police Office to restrict the entry and exit in the barangay including essential travels.
“All travels including those for market and medical purposes will have to pass through the barangay,” Magalong added.
Magalong also warned East Quirino Hill barangay officials and residents to “wake up” and adhere strictly to the provisions of ECQ or suffer the same fate as Pinget and Fairview.
Magalong said some residents in said barangay were caught drinking liqour while others were loitering around and not wearing masks.
If residents will not change their ways and their officials will not do anything to make them obey ECQ rules, the city government will impose extreme measures, Magalong said.
Meanwhile, the lockdown status of Pacdal in view of the presence of one COVID-19 case has been scaled down and will now just be confined to Maria Basa St.
Other areas that remain locked out are barangays Upper Dagsian, Scout Barrio and Woodsgate Subdivision where recent COVID-19 patients reside.
Residents here are also prevented from going out even on market days. They will be served by rolling stores to be arranged by the city government. (Zaldy Comanda)
