BOYS DO CRY: Paulo Avelino openly admits that boys do fall in love, as in that song, and that they, too, cry when they get hurt.
“It takes me a while to recover from a heartache,’’ he admitted candidly. “There was a time when I was even suicidal.’’
He refused to remember his most painful experience. How does he deal with pain? He says he used to embrace it a lot, but not anymore. “You learn from pain. You become a better person because of pain.’’
Such mindset is probably the reason why Paulo has become such a deep, sensitive actor. He was at his best in film, “I’m Drunk, I Love You.”

NGAYON KAYA: “This role is unique for me,’’ he says of his new film, “Ngayon Kaya,” his first team-up with equally talented Janine Gutierrez.
Harold, his character, embodies men who have been recipients of unspoken romantic affection from their female friends, but who have not actually crossed over to a romantic relationship with them.
Most films, he says, picture women as those in the hoping, dreaming stage. Now, it’s the turn of the men to be in that situation.
Paulo believes “Ngayon Kaya” can resonate with such high relatability among viewers, young and old.
How many of us have left behind some unfinished businesses in our past? The film takes you back to those times.
“It’s not just me,’’ he says. “It’s a whole lot more of men and women who have found themselves in that situation once upon a time.’’
