BACOLOD CITY – A 39-year-old man who was reportedly drunk allegedly hacked his auntie to death and injured his cousin in Barangay San Benito, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Police Capt. Eugene Tolentino, Calatrava police chief, identified the fatality as Estrilla Pinili, 70, and the injured as Julita Alibiado, 53.
Tolentino said the suspect, Renato De-erio, 39, of Barangay Marcelo, was having a drinking spree with his brother in their house in the morning when the suspect talked about threatening the victims.
De-erio went to Barangay San Benito where he saw Pinili and Alibiado sitting and talking outside their houses. He joined in their conversation and suddenly attacked them with a knife and fled.
Pinili succumbed to multiple hack wounds in the neck while Alibiado also sustained hack wounds in the neck and was taken to a hospital.
Tolentino said grudge triggered the suspect to commit the crime. He is still at large. (Glazyl Masculino)
