CAMP G. NAKAR, Lucena City Quezon – Four people were injured when a bus carrying seafarers, who had just completed a 14-day quarantine in Manila, crashed into a building and two houses on Saturday afternoon in Barangay Bukal in Pagbilao Quezon.
Police Colonel Audie Madrideo, director of the Quezon Provincial Police Office, said that based on the report of Police Major Reden Romasanta, Pagbilao police chief, the accident happened at about 5:20 p.m.
Police report showed that a BK Travel and Tour bus (ACZ 3827), driven by one Gualberto Guzman, 58, was traversing the south-bound lane of Maharlika Highway when it suddenly crossed the roadside, hitting the front part of a building owned by Adelaida Garcia and two houses owned by Ireneo Ayala and Pedro Ayala.
The owners of the houses were out of their residences when the accident happened.
Police said injured bus passenger Regine Joy Tinamisan Fuentes, 29, a seafarer, was rushed to MMG Hospital in Lucena City for medical treatment; while three other seamen — Reymar Balun Abendano, 29; Michael Angelo Cruz Moreno, 36; and Romel Abello, 51 — were given first aid by Pagbilao disaster response officers.
It was learned that the seafarers were being transported to their respective houses after completing their 14-day quarantine period in Manila when the accident happened. (Danny Estacio)
