The southern part of Mindanao may experience scattered rain showers in the next few days due to the intertropical convergence zone, a breeding ground for the formation of low-pressure areas and tropical cyclones.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
Weather specialist Sheilla Reyes advised people living in these areas against possible flooding or landslides as a result of severe thunderstorms. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, she added.
She said that isolated light rains may also affect Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands due to the northeasterly surface wind flow or mild breeze originating from the northeast.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will continue to experience warm and humid weather conditions apart from localized rain showers in the afternoon or evening due to the easterlies, Reyes said.
Visayas will be sunny with a chance of isolated short-lived rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.
Reyes said they have not issued a gale warning across the country’s coasts, thus, fisherfolk and seafarers are safe to sail.
However, they should remain alert due to moderate seas over the extreme portion of Northern Luzon.
The coastlines in the rest of the country are expected to be slight to moderate. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
