As the country continues to fight the spread of COVID-19, the NCAA has joined the relief efforts to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the frontliners in different hospitals in Metro Manila.
NCAA Management Committee Management (MANCOM) chairman Peter Cayco yesterday said they have already ordered PPEs that will amount to P500,000.
Those PPE’s, according to Cayco, will be distributed in the coming weeks.
“Each member school of the NCAA have done its part in the relief efforts with donations of food and equipment for the frontliners,” said Cayco in a statement released Monday.
“But this is the first time that as a whole – as one NCAA family – we’re giving our donation. In our own little way, this is the NCAA’s contribution in the fight against the pandemic,” he added.
Cayco said the list of beneficiaries is still being finalized since each of the 10 members school have its own suggestion or request where to give the PPEs within Metro Manila.
The effort is part of the league’s advocacy to help people in need.
In the past, the NCAA has extended support to calamities, like the victims of typhoons Yolanda and Ondoy, the tragedy during the Marawi siege, and the victims of earthquake in Batanes last year.
“This is part of out advocacy and as the oldest collegiate tournament in the country, as an institution, we’re extending our help to our brave frontliners who are fighting COVID-19,” said Cayco.
“We are one in hoping and praying that this will be over soon.”
