Two Catholic priests are among those who passed the 2019 Bar examinations, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said
According to a CBCP News post, Father Victor de Guzman of the Diocese of San Fernando de La Union and Salesian Fr. Abundio Bacatan hurdled the licensure test.
Fr. De Guzman does not have any parish assignment at the moment after taking study leave due to the Bar exams.
While Fr. Bacatan is currently assigned at Don Bosco Dumangas in Iloilo province. Before his Iloilo assignment, he served as administrator at the Don Bosco Technical College in Labangon, Cebu City.
According to the CBCP News post, Bacatan is the first Filipino Salesian civil lawyer.
During the 2017 Bar examinations, two priests were also among those who passed.
The CBCP identified them as Fr. Romeo Dawaton of the Apostolic Vicariate of Tabuk and Fr. Efren Bugayong of the Imus diocese.
Bugayong, a doctor in Canon law, and Dawaton were vserving as chancellors in their respective dioceses at that time.
More than 2,000 out of the 7,685 examinees passed last year’s Bar exams held at the University of Santo Tomas. (Leslie Ann Aquino)
