BAGUIO CITY — As the city entered day one of the extended enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), Mayor Benjamin Magalong reminded everyone of the protocol that will remain in effect even after May 15 as part of the “Transition Plan” for the city.
Magalong issued Executive Order No. 85 series of 2020, an order extending the period of ECQ in Baguio City until May 15, 2020.
Under the order, Magalong said all ECQ rules are maintained and that entry to Baguio shall be limited to persons as authorized by the Interagency Task Force for Emerging Diseases and the local COVID-19 IATF, those with essential travel purposes (food and medical supply movement, health workers and medical emergencies), and returning overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
The protocol includes the general curfew of 24 hours, mandatory use of face masks, suspension of major public gatherings including religious services, work from home arrangement in the Executive Branch, continued implementation of the home quarantine pass (for barangay residents), City Mayor’s Office travel permit (for errand services and relief efforts), Baguio City Police Office special permit, and government issued food pass and rapid pass schemes when going out.
Also enforced are modified operating hours for essential business and services, stay-at-home rule for individuals 0-20 years old and 60 years old and above, and people with high risk health issues; Sunday lockdown except for authorized personnel and vital establishments, and liquor ban.
In a meeting with department heads midweek, Magalong emphasized that part of the ECQ protocol is the prohibition of the spitting of momma in public places.
“The non-abated spitting of momma in public places is a hygiene issue.”
Once the city switches ECQ to GCQ or localized community quarantine (LCQ) after May 15, Magalong said the protocol shall continue to be strictly implemented while gradually resuming business and economic activities in the Summer Capital. (Zaldy Comanda)
