GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A police station commander shot dead a rape suspect who allegedly tried to grab the gun of a cop while being investigated inside the Police Station 4 here last Thursday.
Capt. Brent Salazar, commander of Police Station 4, said he shot the suspect, Ronald Badal, 30, who tried to snatch the service firearm of his police escort while being questioned inside the police station in Barangay San Isidro.
“I decided to shoot the suspect after he grabbed the handgun of his police escort,” Salazar said.
Police said the suspect was earlier arrested after he sexually molested a five-year-old girl in Barangay Conel here.
The victim’s mother had sought police assistance after the suspect allegedly inserted his finger into the victim’s organ.
Police also arrested the victim’s father and his sister for trying to cover up the case.
Police said the victim had informed his father and her auntie about the sexual assault committed by the suspect, but they allegedly warned the victim not to report the incident to the police.
Police had filed child abuse charges against the victim’s father and auntie.
