DAVAO CITY — Operatives of Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of Police Regional Office 11 and Talomo Police Station seized more than P800,000 worth of shabu from two drug suspects in separate buy-bust operations on Saturday.
RDEU 11 chief and Talomo Police Station commander Lt. Col. Ronald Lao identified the suspects as Romeo M. Monterola , 39, construction worker, and Silverio J. Ocon; 26, both are residents of Santiago, Purok 3, Balusong, Barangay Matina Crossing.
Lao said the first team arrested Monterola at Concepcion Compound, Matina Crossing at about 11:50 a.m. on Saturday and confiscated from him five grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P80,000.
After Monterola’s arrest, the operatives immediately conducted a follow-up operation at Balusong 3 and nabbed Ocon who yielded 11 sachets of shabu weighing about 46 grams worth around P736,000 and other non-drug items.
Lao said the two suspects were included in Directorate for Intelligence list of personalities involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs in the area.
He said despite their strong campaign against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the police still intensify their operation against illegal drugs in the region. (Armando B. Fenequito Jr.)
