The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has warned the public that the “DSWD” Facebook page that is calling on all Filipino citizens who have yet to receive their emergency subsidies to post their family names and respective barangays and cities is “not the official Facebook page of the agency.”
The department made the clarification after the supposed “DSWD” Facebook post on April 29 at 8:54 p.m. went viral with 10,000 shares and 5,400 reactions.
“DSWD encourages the public to only view official announcements or information on DSWD’s official website and social media accounts and Field Offices,” it said in a Facebook post on Saturday night.
The DSWD clarified that it does not ask the names of those who did not receive aid through Facebook.
It advised the public to “report to your LSWDO (local social welfare and development officer) if you haven’t received a SAP (Social Amelioration Program).”
The supposed DSWD Facebook page exhorted those who were not able to receive their SAP cash subsidy to post their family name, street number, barangay and city of residence.
“LAHAT PO NG FILIPINO CITIZEN AY HINIHIKAYAT NA MAGCOMMENT SA POST NA ITO PARA MALAMAN NG PANGULONG DUTERTE AT NI SENATOR BONG GO KUNG ANONG MGA BRGY AT CITY ANG HINDI PA NAKAKATANGGAP NG 5,000 AT 8,000 PESOS,” read the post.
The post even cautioned the netizens against posting their personal information and contact details, saying that that identity thieves might prey on them.
“Paalala lang po wag nyo po ilagay ang buong detalye at contact number nyo para hindi kayo maidentify Theft malaman lang natin ang Brgy at City kung saan Malakas ang Korapsyon,” it said. (Charissa Atienza)
