Standing at 6-foot-8, Nazareth School of National University Kevin Quiambao is a terror on the court.
But off of it, his demeanor is admirable because he also has a kind heart to the needy ones.
Quiambao, who was part of the UAAP Season 82 Boys’ Basketball Mythical Team, did his part by giving back to the military frontliners, barangay officials, and community volunteers in Barangay Bayanan, Muntinlupa by distributing packed meals last April 29.
The 19-year-old did so by pooling funds from his friends and family, and as well as his own pocket, to produce 150 packed meals that had spicy pork ribs, a boiled egg, and rice.
“Nag-decide kami maghelpout para makatulong kami kahit paano and para alam din po na naa-apreciate namin yung pag sakripisyo ng mga frontliners,” said Quiambao.
Quiambao knows all too well that every little thing counts during this time of crisis.
For him, he is just doing his part to help out.
“Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam na nagagawa mo yung part mo bilang isang Pilipinas dahil isa ako sa ginawang instrumento ni Lord para makatulong kahit papaano.”
NONOY ALSO DELIVERS
In faraway La Carlota, Negros Occidental, UST guard Mark Nonoy is also doing his own share by helping the brave men and women that are helping him and his neighborhood feel secure.
Last April 27, the former Rookie of the Year paid tribute to the military frontliners and barangay officials of Barangay II (Poblacion) by preparing and distributing hundreds of packed meals to them.
“Gusto ko lang po talagang makatulong sa kanila dahil sa sacrifices nila para mapanatiling safe sa amin,” said the 5-foot-8 guard who used his savings and as well as pooled money from his family and friends to make this possible.
It’s his own sacrifice for the people who have been making the ultimate sacrifice for them.
